Yay!

Well, we've been talking about it for awhile now and we finally did it!
We bought some land! 2.53 acres about 30 minutes east of Klamath Falls! It gets a full seasonal spread from a few feet of snow in winter to blistering highs of 85 in the Summer. The plot has tons of trees and is about 10 minutes from a one horse town called Bonanza. (hehe) Gonna cost a total of $10,000. Hoping to campout up there this summer to survey it and start looking at setting up a relatively permanent camp site that we can use until we get around to building a house there.

Woohoo!

Sake

Being that I am learning Japanese and have been dining at the fine establishment of Momoya's in Mountainview, CA, I decided tonight to satisfy my curiosity on what the appeal of Sake (Japanese rice wine) is.

Now that I have tasted it, I really don't get it...it essentially just tastes like a white wine. Not being a very big fan of white wine (or alcohol in general), I didn't take any more than my one sip. It's weird. I don't much care in general for alcohol (all my piña colodas are virgin, heh), but I can appreciate that the flavor of certain drinks can be appealing and that some people don't mind the 'alcohol' taste, but I don't get this stuff. (Unless it's one of those drinks you drink to get drunk. The one I bought was only 29 proof unlike some of the harder ones you can get. Kinda like whiskey or tequila, only Japanese...heh)

Ouch

My 3 year-old daughter, Kesi, broke my wife's finger. She was standing next to the bathroom playing with our son, N'tan. She was using her foot to tickle him and had her hand no the bathroom door jam for balance. Kesi had to go potty so she ran in and shut the door. Unfortunately, my wife wasn't able to reach the door handle (I was at school at the time.) and she had to ask Kesi to open the door. To which Kesi responded "Why mommy?" My wife then told her that her hand was stuck in the door. Kesi opened the door, looked at her mommies hand and said: "You should be more careful mommy!"

Her finger was bent backwards and she was in so much pain that when she first called me I thought she said that Kesi's finger was broken. We took her to the hospital and apparently part of the bone was crushed. She has to wear a splint for the next 4 weeks.

Ouch.
