Sake
Being that I am learning Japanese and have been dining at the fine establishment of Momoya's in Mountainview, CA, I decided tonight to satisfy my curiosity on what the appeal of Sake (Japanese rice wine) is.
Now that I have tasted it, I really don't get it...it essentially just tastes like a white wine. Not being a very big fan of white wine (or alcohol in general), I didn't take any more than my one sip. It's weird. I don't much care in general for alcohol (all my piña colodas are virgin, heh), but I can appreciate that the flavor of certain drinks can be appealing and that some people don't mind the 'alcohol' taste, but I don't get this stuff. (Unless it's one of those drinks you drink to get drunk. The one I bought was only 29 proof unlike some of the harder ones you can get. Kinda like whiskey or tequila, only Japanese...heh)

I agree with you on the taste of Sake. Not much to it. I like sushi though!
So I have been told be another friend that the sake I bought was not anything like the sake he has drunk previously. Apparently, according to him the sake he has had before tasted more like Vodka and was much stronger...heh.
Oh well....
