Sometimes no title is right.

Last Friday (1/19/2007) I attended, for the first time, a funeral.

My wife's grandfather died.

It was an entirely different experience. I'm still not totally sure what to think of it.

I only met the man a few times and my memories of him are not extraordinarily good or bad. They played a powerpoint that showed him from fairly young until a few months ago. It was neat to watch as he aged and grew a family. I had never even known that he served in WWII.

It was a pleasure to meet some of his friends and talk to them and yet it brought tears to my eyes as I shared their sadness at losing him.

I salute you, Robert Lee Vetter, for your service to fighting off the evils of your time. May your soul find its way home.

Ouch

As I posted before, I messed up my big toe. It is now partially healed and for those of the voyeuristic persuasion here are some pics of its current state. (I didn't get any pics when it was fresh and really nasty.) Click at your own risk.

Done with our old place!!!!!

We are finally done with our old apartment. Yesterday I went in and did the final items: Put up the new vertical blinds, removed our AC and dropped of the keys! Woot! No more apartment.

For those of you who don't know, we moved into a house! (Still renting, but its not an apartment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!!!) 3 Bedrooms, 2 FULL baths, a living room, a family room, a dining room, a kitchen, a big backyard AND a 2 car garage.

And a cool landlord! He actually said he would pray for us to find the place that was just right for us, when we first met him to check out the place!

On a not so positive note....the managers of our apartment assured us that the owner would very likely nitpick every little detail and take it out of our deposit....sigh. Hopefully, it won't turn into a court battle but we will have to see.
